Here’s how to choose your ideal maintenance partner: 5 points for consideration

Regular qualitative maintenance of protective equipment such as fall arrest devices and breathing protection is important.

Are you currently looking for a good maintenance partner?

Then be sure to read this article first.

Why have a maintenance partner?

Naturally, you can do the protective equipment maintenance yourself. But using an external party has several advantages:

A maintenance partner takes care of the management for you. Administrative tasks are done for you, giving you more time for other work.

A maintenance partner has years of experience with both the personal protective equipment (PPE) itself and with its maintenance. Thanks to their specialist knowledge, they know exactly how to quickly make your products safe and ready for use again.

Good maintenance also takes time. Do you have a lot of equipment that needs to be serviced at the same time? Then it is better to leave the maintenance to someone who does it for you quickly and competently.

When choosing a maintenance partner, pay attention to the following four things. That way, things will always go well!

1. Service from start to finish

A good maintenance partner ensures that you know the exact status of all your maintenance-sensitive products.

The maintenance test report is important in this regard. What exactly was inspected? Which parts were approved – or rejected – and replaced?

Also ask them to let you know when the next service visit needs to be scheduled. That way, you don’t have to think about it and you don’t wind up in trouble later.

2. Which brands can be serviced

Like most companies, you probably use various brands of protective equipment, which is why you need to choose a maintenance partner that is brand-independent.

That way, you have a single point of contact for all your PPE and don’t have to contact a different supplier or manufacturer each time.

That makes it easier, now and in the future.

Also note whether the company’s technicians have actual experience with these brands. Did they follow training for that particular brand?

Check whether the maintenance company has the right certificates to inspect and maintain a brand. This way, you can be sure that maintenance and repair are done according to the correct procedures.

3. On-site and off-site service

Is maintenance necessary, but your time short? Then find a maintenance partner who comes to you. After all, sending, checking, repairing, and returning a product takes time.

If it’s not as urgent, the protective equipment can go to the maintenance company’s workshop.

A good company has enough of the right testing equipment in-house, such as a breathable air compressor, test benches, and professional washing and drying machines.

4. Faster turnaround thanks to stock

The sooner you have your products back after maintenance, the better. Sometimes a part needs to be replaced.

Naturally, you don’t want to wait unnecessarily in this case because the maintenance company still has to order that part.

So make sure to ask your potential partner if they have replacement parts for your products in stock.

Of course, the right part may not be in stock. Check what your maintenance partner has arranged in that case, for example, an agreement with the manufacturer for a dedicated delivery of parts.
