Maintenance of life jackets

Why carry out maintenance on life jackets?

Life jackets are exposed to particular loads, and damage is sometimes not immediately visible. The reliable operation of an automatic life jacket therefore depends on regular and professional maintenance.

The manufacturer specifies regular maintenance intervals, which must be adhered to. In normal use, it is recommended that the jacket is serviced every two years.

For a SOLAS approved vest, or a standard jacket that is used very frequently, we recommend annual maintenance.

A controlled procedure

The following steps are completed for the maintenance of life jackets:

  • Inspection of the water tightness of the buoyancy cell
  • Inspection of the automatic inflater
  • Inspection of the inflation mechanism and the oral top-up tube
  • Fitting of new seals
  • Inspection of the CO2 cartridge
  • Visual inspection of the belt system

Maintenance of a life jacket can only take place in our workshop.

All work carried out and all parts replaced are logged in our database, together with a maintenance report. You will receive a notification for maintenance from us before the next scheduled maintenance is due.
