DeltriSafe+: the mask with an outer layer that kills viruses

Deltrian has produced an innovative type II surgical mask that destroys 99.9% of all viruses – including coronavirus.

The mask is covered with a plasma technology coating to achieve this effect.

The virus-killing treatment is harmless for people, but provides at least 8 hours' protection against almost all viruses.

The virus-killing effect in practice

The virucide, made from citric acid, neutralises 99.9% of all viruses within 10 minutes of contact with the virus.

Plasma technology enables the virucide to attach to the mask material. The treated outer surface of the mask activates when droplets come into contact with it. The virucide then destroys the genetic material from the virus and block the possibility of it mutating further. Finally, the virus is deactivated and destroyed no more than 10 minutes after the contact.

Can the coating be harmful for health?

The virus-killing treatment poses no risk at all for people and is also gentle on the skin, which is what makes this technology so innovative.

Silver particles are not used, but citric acid is.

This same solution is used in various soft drinks, among other things, although a glass of soft drink contains around 1000x more citric acid than a DeltriSafe+ mask.

Made in Belgium

The mask manufacturer, Deltrian, specialises in filters. In March 2020, they also started production of surgical masks.

Deltrian is currently still producing 1.5 million masks per week. The plasma technology was developed in collaboration with the Molecular Plasma Group in Luxembourg.

The mask and technology are certified by Centexbel and have also been added to the Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology’s ’Anti-Covid-19 list’.
